August's Money Diaries

Monthly Money Diaries: Part 1

Since starting my own business I have had to start being really consious of what I'm spending and where I am spending money. This can be anything from business supplies, to daily bills and social media expenses, it really does all start to add up without you even noticing.

So for my first come back blog post, I thought I would start with one of blog post's that I like to read just lately, which is a money diaries to keep track of how much I spend in the month of August.....I was inspired by this blog post zoey olivias money diaries july 2021.

Week One: 1st - 8th

Laybuy: £35.23

Zilch: £31.02

Clearpay: £33.90

Roblox: £4.99 - This is monthly credits for my niece Daisy

Business Supplies: £63.90 - I needed to stock up on some more wax clamshells and quite a few oils as I was running low on quite a few things this month.

Click and Drop: £3.00 - I use online click and drop to pay for any orders that need posting from the website.

Weekly Total: £172.04 - I definetly need to get this total down next week, just seeing that written down makes me uneasy over how much has been spent in just the first week alone!

Week Two: 9th - 15th

Laybuy: £21.75

Zilch: £11.62

Clearpay: £15.04

Click and Drop: £8.47 - Again this is business related and used to pay postage online for any orders placed.

Godaddy Yearly Domain: £11.99 - This is for my Kays Angel Scents Business Domain

Misc: £30.00 - Had my nephew's birthday this week, so this was money he was given for he's birthday instead of an actual present, that way he can buy what he wants with it.

Weekly Total: £98.87 - This week's total is a major improvement from last week's total, I was determined not to go over the £100 mark again and I actually managed it!

Week Three: 16th - 22nd

Laybuy: £21.75 - From next week my laybuy account will be fully paid off! Now to focus on my Zilch and Clearpay accounts.

Zilch: £19.79 - My Zilch account is mainly used for takeaways and amazon purchases haha, a few of the purchases on there tho are for bookings at window to the womb that my sister pays for.

Clearpay: £52.01 - I'm slowly getting round to paying off my purchases on clearpay, I mainly use this account to purchase business products which is why its always so high!

Business Insurance: £6.61 - I pay for my insurance on a monthly basis instead of yearly and this works for me at the moment instead of paying for it as one big yearly sum.

Godaddy Email: £4.99 - This is for the email address that connects to my shop, to seperate it from my personal email address

Misc: £60.00

Weekly Total: £165.15 - I always knew this week's total was going to be a high one, coming to the end of the month with more bills than usual to pay. Then we was planning my older sister's gender reveal & niece's 18th so had loads to sort out for that as well.

Week Four: 23rd - 31st

Laybuy: £9.63 - This is my laybuy payments all clear now, I officially owe nothing on there. It took me a while but I can finally say I don't owe a penny on there now.

Zilch: £18.45

Clearpay: £10.43

Ancestory: £19.99 - We have been researching into our family tree for a few years now, and now that the next lot of census's have been released I paid for 1 month access to Ancestory for us to see what else showed up on those census's, this will be cancelled next month though.

Amazon: £19.53 - Treated myself to some nail bits and also Dr Alex George's new book that I've been wanting for a while now.

Misc: £28.99

Weekly Total:  £107.02 - The end of every month is always going to be a high total for me, the only thing I don't include in this is the cost of the rent, cause let's face it, living in London is expensive haha!

Combined Monthly Total: £543.08

Business Profit: £246

So this all my monthly spend, which when its all written down really does look alot!  I must also add in though that I did make £246 in profit from the business this month which ain't too bad considering how slow sales have actually been just lately.

I miss blogging...

I miss blogging!

So 2 months after deciding I was quitting the whole blogging community, I've realised just how much I've missed it and that I really don't think I can give it up completley. I've put too much into this to just let it go!

The blog posts will be more lifestyle, skincare and small business related posts though as this is all I really do now. I will also be having a clean up of blog posts, basically removing some really old posts that literally make no sense and are from back when I first started this blog haha. The layout will be staying the same as I've only just recentley purchased this pipdig theme and they dont come cheap!

I can't promise there will be x amount of blog posts each week as I know I can't commit to that just yet, but will be looking towards doing at least 1 post per week for now. I need to work this around the business and getting all the new stock ready for September so that is all ready to go.

August is usually a hard month for me due to it being the month my sister passed away suddenly, so we have the 2nd anniversary of that coming up on the 23rd, I along with my other sister are also arranging a gender reveal for my older sister so we find out the gender on the 18th August before it gets revealed to everyone else on the 21st August....so looking forward to that before sisters memorial barbecue on the 22nd August.

Netflix Shows I've Been Loving

The last time I done a blog post regarding which shows I was currently loving on  Netflix was in February 2020....just before the worldwide pandemic started and the first lockdown came into place. Fast forward just over a year, and restrictions are slowly starting to lift and we can start to get back to some sort of normality.....or at least try to anyway.

I can imagine that Netflix has become some sort of lifesaver for a lot of us during lockdowns and has entertained us all in one way or another to stop us going completly crazy.

So heres the programmes I've been loving lately:

 The Crown

How did it take me so long to give in and watch this tv series?! I'll be the first to admit I'm not a big fan or the Royal Family in general (I like William, Harry and Kate and that's about it). I got hooked on this from the very first episode though and binged watch all the seasons in about 2 weeks, I seriously need another season of this very soon and I hope it is sooner rather than later! This really does give you more of an insight into what really happens behind closed doors with the Royal Family and how they actually live, it's a very interesting watch and one I would highly reccomend giving a watch.

Girls Incarcerated (Young & Locked Up)

This is a recent find for me, and it's about teen girls in Indiana who are too young for a normal prison so are sent to a juvenile correctional facilities as they try to turn their lives around whilst also struggling with conflict and heartbreak. Some of the girls I do feel sorry for that are in there, but then there is some girls who I actually can't stand and have got some serious attitude problems! Some of them I really hope they do manage to get their lives together and don't end up back in that place, as it really doesn't seem to do them any good everytime they end up going back in there.

The Vampire Diaries

This is one of those series that just never gets old but also one that I have never fully watched right till the very last episode, but this time I'm determined to finish it! I'm currently on Season 6: Episode 22 - so I'm getting through it quite quickly this time around, I think last time I only made it up to season 5 before I stopped watching it. I am fully invested this around though and tend to watch between 3 & 4 episodes everynight before going to sleep.

R.I.P Milo

My Boy Milo

Devasted is all I can say at this moment in time!

Had my milo from the day he was born (my gizmo is he's mum), and 3 days ago you went missing and never returned home to us. It's not unusual for you to go wandering for a few days, but you always return for your food of a night time but this time we knew deep down something had happened as you didn't come back at all for your food.

It turns out you was hit by a car on the 24th February literally on the road we live on and killed, and you was left on the side of the road for someone to find you. Thankfully you was collected with diginty by a local council worker and taken back to the council depot to rest until your owner was found.

We had a feeling it was you when someone described the cat on a local group on Facebook, so I managed to contact the person who had collected you, who kindly went into work on hes day off to take a photo for me so I could confirm it was you.....and sadly it was.

You was a typical boy cat, big and fluffy and a such a gentle and loving cat, our home certainly won't feel the same without you and I'm sure the other animals will notice you not being here and it's fair to say you was the only male in this house with the rest of us being girls haha

Gonna miss you boy!

Biggest Pet Peeve As A Blogger

Ad after Ad after Ad

Now I'm all for doing ad's on blogs and maybe getting a product or payment for the time and effort that goes into doing these posts, but when its literally constant ad after ad every single blog post it drives me crazy, even more so when the post doesn't fit in with any of the other blog's content.

I use to follow a few blog's/twitter accounts that I loved keeping up to date with and reading on a regular basis, but then it seemed all they was interested in doing was ad's all the time so I had no choice but to unfollow them. When I decide to follow a blog or subscribe to there newsletter, I do so because I'm interested in there own blog posts and not something they are being paid to promote, it kind of feels like some bloggers will promote anything if it's for free or money's involved if that makes sense

Don't get me wrong, I have done a few ad's on my blog before, but I will only do them if I feel it goes with what my blog is about and fits well. I no longer will accept a product or payment to advertise a makeup item as personally I hardly use anything these days, only beauty type item I would agree to is anything nail or skincare related, as for other ads they would need to fit in with the lifestyle/creative part of my blog.

How do you feel about seeing constant ads everywhere?

4 Out Of 9 Days Of Isolation

Yep you read that right, I have had to self-isolate for the past 9 days due to having coronavirus symptoms with not being able to smell anything and having a bit of a sore throat as well.

So I thought if I kept a little log of each day and how I entertain myself by being stuck at home, that it would also make for a good blog post as well, but then again you might not even find this interesting to read either haha.

So here goes....

Day 1 || Today marks the full first day of having to isolate myself away from everyone, woke up this morning with a sore throat and felt like I hadn't drunk anything in days it felt that dry but other than that and obviously the no smell still, I felt completly fine. I have had to put a notice up on my shop's facebook page letting everyone know I can't dispatch any order until after the 16th January which is a bit of a pain, as I was well on my way of reaching my goal of getting an order every single day in January. Today has mainly just been a chill day doing not a lot, apart from bit of housework and watching Netflix, so nothing too exciting haha.

Day 2 || Today has been the laziest day I have had in a long time, I didn't really sleep that well last night and finally fell asleep about 6:30am, then woke up again about 8am....then must of fallen back to sleep again because the next time I looked at the clock it was just gone 1pm! I've literally had no motivation at all today to do anything even though there was so much that needed to be done in the house, so tomorrow I am gonna make sure I have a productive day and tick everything off my to-do list including taking some photo's of new products for my online shop.

Day 3 || Only 3 days into this whole isolation and I am already starting to go crazy being stuck indoors, I've cleaned and re-arranged the whole kitchen, already done two loads of washing and it's only 11am! I've even done the boring job of cleaning all my wax melt moulds for when I can get back to making them, now I'm on to the task of putting all my clothes away and having a de-clutter of all the ones that I no longer wear and I will pass these on to my oldest niece to have a look through to see if she wants any of them.

Day 4 || My results have finally come back....I've tested negative which is good! Which means I no longer have to self-isolate which I am over the moon with, three days of isolating is enough for me so I proper feel for all of you who have to isolate for medical reasons.....hats of to all of you!

Hope you are all keeping safe during this third lockdown, and looking after both yourselves and your mental health as I know some people are really struggling this time around with the whole locldown and not being able to see family and friends.

Creating A Vision Board in 2021

Creating A Vision Board

This year is the first time I have ever thought about creating myself a vision board so I can see on a daily basis what it is that I want to achieve this year. Usually I would just write a list down on my phone and then after a few days I would forget to look at it regularly to remind me of said goals, so I'm trying it with a vision board for 2021!

My vision board is split into four different sections, with each section representing a different aspect of my life at the moment and throughout 2021, so let's take a look at what each section means to me.

Kays Angel Scents

Kay's Angel Scents is the small business that I set up in memory of my younger sister. It all only became official in September 2020 when I got insured and CLP compliant and offically launched the online shop. I really want to grow in custom this year and launch a few more scents to add to our online collection, to be able to offer something for everyone. I am also starting to branch out into personalised items as well, so hopefully those bits start to sell well too.

I'm currently offering a discount on any orders placed throughout January, so if you're feeling genorous and would like to place an order on www.kaysangelscents.co.uk, enter the code "POSTCODE15" for a 15% discount at the checkout.....I would be ever so grateful!

Phonecalls

This is something I have a really hard time in doing, I've only just recently started getting comfortable in sending voice notes to certain people which is a really big thing for me and my anxiety. So my next step is to make a phonecall to someone I haven't before and then build up to doing more so I can get comfortable and not dread it everytime my phone rings.
I don't even know what it is about making a phonecall that I'm so scared about?! Will I run out of things to say? Will I go blank and not know what to say? I guess it's just a mixture of things really.

Social Anxiety really is a pain in the backside sometimes!

Success

This part of my vision board isn't because I want major success in every little thing I do. I would just like to be successful in completing some of my goals this year, and being able to make my family proud that I have managed to overcome some of my fears.

I want to be confident in myself, find someone who accepts me for me and not just want they can get out of it for themselves.

I would also like to be successful with the small business and see it grow and reach milestones that I didn't think would be possible, my target at the moment is to completley fill in my postcode map, so fingers crossed I can get that all done this year as last year I only managed 20 postcodes, which ain't too bad I guess.

Happiness

Lastly happiness......this is something I want more than anything this year, since losing my sister suddenly and unexpectedly I have always felt a sense of guilt everytime I start to feel happy and although I know that isn't what she would of wanted, I just can't seem to help it.

I want to be happy with both my online and offline life, I would like to do more things outside of my comfort zone and I would also like to focus more on both my blog and social media accounts.

As one of the quotes opposite says "A little progress each day adds up to big results" and that is going to be my motto for this year, take things slow and steady instead of fast paced, and hopefully I will see the progress that I am so longing for.

Have you ever made a vision board up before?

Leave me a comment and let me know what you are focusing on more in 2021, as I would love to find some new blogs to read, and see what all your goals are.

2021 Hopes & Goals

The start of a new year always makes me want to set myself some new goals, to see what I can achieve if I put my mind to it. I was going to have a look back on what my 2020 goals were, but looking back for that particular post its clear that I actually forgot to even write it let alone publish it to the blog..oops!

So let's get cracking on with my hopes and goals for  2021...

Fight the last hurdle of my anxiety

Anxiety is a strange thing isn't it? One minute you feel like you can overcome any hurdle thrown your way, and then the next it almost seems impossible right? This year alone has been a really strange one for me, my confidence has grown in more ways than one and I can happily send voice notes to certain people without even thinking about it now, but then in some ways all these lockdowns and restrictions in place has stopped me doing so much that I wanted to do this year which has in some ways made my anxiety worse. So in 2021 I want to work towards more goals to overcome the final stage of my social anxiety, and make phone calls and possibly meet new people that I usually wouldn't....let's just hope lockdown and all these tier's don't stop this happening for me.

Grow Kays Angel Scents

Since launching Kays Angel Scents back in September 2020, it has really given me something to concentrate on and build up from scratch. I personally make every item on my shop as well as do all the labelling myself as well, this takes up quite a bit of time in the evenings and I can sometimes be up till gone 2am even though I have a 5am alarm set the next morning. In 2021 I want to hopefully take my online shop over onto Etsy alongside my actual website and try and build up a customer base on there as well. Having this business to concentrate on has also helped my mental health so much, and doing it all in memory of my sister makes me even more determined to make it a success.

Bullet Journal & Planner

Bullet Journaling is something that has always interested me and I love having a good old scroll on Pinterest looking at how others plan there's out and decorate them. This year I have both a bullet journal and a separate planner as my planner will be being used for my personal goals and business goals, and then my bullet journal is for the stuff I don't mind others seeing and I will be sharing some pages of these over on my Instagram account. I am determined to keep up with my bullet journal this year and see it through for the whole year, instead of giving up with it after a few months haha.
